Pure Michigan Hotspots Perfect for this Fall Season

Michigan is beautiful in the Fall. It truly is a wonderful state full of natural beauty, craft beer, gorgeous lakes, and of course it has Grand Rapids. Which honestly just speaks for itself, but anyways northern Michigan is home to many awesome cities. Traverse City, Petoskey, Charlevoix, Mackinac Island, Marquette, and Ludington, to name a few. Most of these cities have one major common factor, and that is their proximity to a Great Lake. Most being Lake Michigan. But I am a little bias when it comes to these cities and Lake Michigan, but still, Michigan is just a great state. You can’t go wrong. Except maybe during the Winter. Michigan makes me rethink for a second if it is actually THAT great when Winter rolls around.

Doesn’t a quick getaway to one of these stunning cities this Fall sound like the best mini vacay for you and your partner? Fall in northern Michigan with your partner? It’s not even a question. Fall foliage, crisp fresh air, hiking, sightseeing, wine tasting, and biking, it’s the ultimate perfect romantic weekend. Therefore, let’s discuss a Michigan road trip and some great pitstops you can make when touring Michigan with your significant other this Fall season.

The dunes cascade straight into Lake Michigan and the tree tops you can see from standing a top one of the many tall dunes are glowing with the golden and fiery red leaves of Fall time. Petoskey’s downtown is located on a hill that slopes down towards Little Traverse Bay. The best way to see the downtown and bay at the same time is to stop out to Beards Brewery. Their restaurant sits high up on the edge of the hill overlooking the water. Their patio experience is beautiful. At night, the downtown’s streetlamps and Beard’s patio string lights strung up overhead are lit up and reflecting off the far-off bay. It creates the perfect night out. Not only is their restaurant positioned perfectly but their craft beer and food is to die for. I will definitely be going back here.

Just from looking at this you know that Mackinac Island has it all. I have probably been to Mackinac over 10 times already and am still not bored of it in the slightest. It is one of my favorite places to visit either with my family, girlfriends, or significant other, and each trip I take just keeps getting better and better. Mackinac Island is perfect and stunning during the summer but when Fall comes around it truly lights up. Literally. The leaves reverberate golden and fiery hues while the water is the deepest and purest of blues. Mackinac comes alive during the Fall. I say just go for it and stay in a bed and breakfast on the island. Mackinac needs to be done the right way and staying on the island truly is the best experience. Just talking about it makes me want to plan another trip out there. But for those who are wanting to visit, you have to do it right. Stay on the island for a weekend, bike the entire island—inside and out, get brunch one morning at the Grand Hotel, go to Pink Pony and order their apple brie flatbread, make a picnic to take to the beach, take pictures of Arch Rock, and watch the sunset on west Bluff Road. Mackinac is a Pure Michigan experience that never gets old.
