Fall Cocktails You Can Make at Home

With Fall comes its flavors. Pumpkin spice, apple cider, cranberry, pecan, caramel apple, maple, and anything spiced. It’s a great time of the year to begin becoming your own bartender and to add these delicious flavors into your favorite classic cocktails!

Going out for drinks can be expensive as it is and with Covid it can now be a stressful and difficult experience. That’s why staying in and having a couple friends and family members over for a Saturday night drink can be the perfect solution. Not only do you get to be creative and become your own bartender, but ultimately, it’s always nice to have a relaxing and comfortable night in with close friends who know how to have a good conversation and a good time.

Moscow mules, whiskey sours, mimosas, sangria, and old fashions are always the top dogs of classic cocktails but now with Fall you can incorporate those festive flavors! Let’s go ahead and explore these cocktails, but first let’s tell you what barware essentials are the perfect addition to your personal bar cart! I am not going to go too fancy and in-depth with what you will need, because this is your own at-home, DIY bar. But many of these utensils would be super helpful and very stylish and trendy in your home!

· Cocktail shaker/strainer

· Short clear glasses

· Champagne Flutes

· Copper mugs

· Shot glasses or double jigger

· Wine cork opener

· Mixing spoon

· Muddler

Caramel Apple Moscow Mule

Yield: 2 Cocktails

Additional Time: 3 Minutes

Total Time: 3 Minutes


· 3-4 fluid ounces caramel vodka

· 4 fluid ounces fresh apple cider, chilled

· Juice of ½ lime or a couple squirts of lime juice

· 24 fluid ounces ginger beer, chilled

· Ground cinnamon

· 2-4 cinnamon sticks

· Apple sliced for garnish


1. Using a cocktail shaker, combine vodka, apple cider, and lime juice. Shake well.

2. Fill 2 copper mugs ¾ of the way full with crushed ice, then divide cocktail mixture between mugs. Top off each mug with chilled ginger beer, filling to top.

3. Top with a sprinkle of cinnamon. Garnish with cinnamon sticks and an apple slice. Serve and enjoy!


Cinnamon Maple Whiskey Sour

Yield: 1 Cocktail

Additional Time: 2 Minutes

Total Time: 5 Minutes


· 1 ½ ounces Bourbon

· 1-ounce fresh lemon juice

· 2-4 teaspoons maple syrup to taste

· Pinch of ground cinnamon


1. Fill a cocktail shaker about 2/3 full of ice.

2. Pour in the bourbon, lemon juice, maple syrup, and cinnamon. Shake well.

3. Pour fresh ice into your cocktail glass and strain the cold whiskey sour mixture into the glass. Serve and enjoy!


Apple Cider Mimosas

Yield: 1 Cocktail

Additional Time: 1 Minute

Total Time: 5 Minutes


· 4 ounces Apple Cider

· 2 ounces Champagne

· White or Brown sugar for sugar rim

· Apple slices for garnish


1. Dip the top of the champagne flute into water and then into the sugar for the rim.

2. Pour the glass ½ - ¾ full with apple cider.

3. Top with champagne.

4. Garnish with apple slices. Serve and enjoy!


Fireball Apple Cider Sangria

Yield: 8 Cocktails

Additional Time: 3 Minutes

Total Time: 5 Minutes


· 4 apples, thinly sliced

· 5 cups of Apple Cider

· 1.5 Liter Pinot Grigio

· 1 cup Fireball Cinnamon Whiskey

· 3 cinnamon sticks

· 7.5 ounces of Ginger Ale


1. Add the apples, cinnamon sticks, apple cider, Pinot Grigio, Fireball, and Ginger to a large pitcher.

2. Lightly stir and let stand in refrigerator for at least 30 minutes for best results. Serve and enjoy!


Pumpkin Old Fashioned

Yield: 1 Cocktail

Additional Time: 1 Minute

Total Time: 5 Minutes


· 2.5 ounces of Bourbon

· 2/3 ounce pure maple syrup

· 1 tablespoon pumpkin puree

· 1-2 pinches black walnut bitters (optional)

· Orange peel, cinnamon stick, and bourbon cherry for garnish


1. In a cocktail shaker with ice, combine the bourbon, maple syrup, pumpkin puree, and bitters. Shake well.

2. Add ice to empty and strain in the cocktail mixture.

3. Squeeze the orange peel over the top of the cocktail to release oils; then rub the orange peel around the rim of the glass.

4. Garnish with orange peel, cinnamon stick, and cherry. Serve and enjoy!
