COVID-19 Michigan Update
This year has been full of situations none of us have ever experienced before. During this pandemic, it has been crucial to stay updated about what is happening in your county, state and country.
According to the article Coronavirus in Michigan: Here’s What You Need to Know by Click on Detroit, the number of cases in Michigan as of Wednesday, August 12 is 89,271. There have been 6,273 deaths. There are 515 new cases as of Wednesday, with nine deaths.
New cases have seen a decrease this past two weeks. Click on Detroit states, “Testing has remained steady, with an average of more than 25,000 per day, with the positive rate between 3 and 4 percent. Hospitalizations have increased slightly, but remain considerably lower than April.”
While Michigan does have 89,271 cases, 63,636 have recovered. The Lansing region is where most of the new cases are coming from.
Michigan is seeing a “plateau” of cases, but that does not mean we should take this as a green light to resume life how it was before the pandemic. It is important to wash your hands frequently, wear your mask in public and limit the number of people you are around. In order to continue decreasing the number of cases and deaths, it is important to work together to ensure the best outcome and the utmost safety for the state.
