Fun Ways to Beat the Summer Heat!

Summer is in full swing in West Michigan, and the ninety degree weather came along with it! While we all love to spend time outdoors, it can be hard to keep cool. Below, we have some fun tips and tricks to enjoy your summer without overheating.

We often take for granted how lucky we are to live minutes from Lake Michigan. Pack yourself a picnic, plenty of water, and sunscreen to spend a day on the beach! You not only can enjoy the summer sun, but also are steps away from the water when you need to cool down. We recommend PJ Hoffmaster State Park, Grand Haven Beach, and Kirk Park (dog friendly)!

A great way to stay cool and save some money is to wash your cars at home! Throw on a swim suit and get the hose out, this not only crosses a chore off your list but can be a fun activity that gets the whole family involved.

Toss out the ice cream, homemade popsicles are the way to go! A fun and easy treat to make, that you can enjoy on the front porch or in the backyard. Get creative with it! There are so many recipes on pinterest, a fan favorite being lemonade and mint or fruit popsicles that have raspberries, blueberries, and strawberries.

If you love to tan in the sun, stop at a dollar tree and pick up a few spray bottles. This is a great trick that you can keep in your beach bag, and whenever you are feeling hot you can spray yourself down. Make sure to apply your sunscreen and grab a good book!

There are plenty of fun ways to enjoy your summer (socially distant, of course), but the sweltering heat can make that tough. Try out some of these tricks, and enjoy West Michigan before we are knee deep in snow!
