3 Energy Savings Tips
Looking for easy, effective ways to save a little energy and money? We have three easy and inexpensive ways to save both energy and money!
Change to LED, CFL (compact fluorescent lights), and halogen incandescent bulbs: These light bulbs use anywhere from 25-80% less electricity and can last three to twenty-five times longer than traditional light bulbs. These alternatives to traditional bulbs are more expensive, but in the long run, they use less energy and last longer.
Wash your clothes in cold water: according to smithsonianmag.com, about seventy-five percent of the energy used while doing a load of laundry comes from heating the water. Using cold water is just as effective as warm water and is also energy efficient.
Using a smart power strip: A smart power strip can detect when a device is not being used and in standby mode. When detected, the device/appliance is not in use; it cuts off the power to that device and saves energy. There are different types of smart power strips depending on what will be plugged into them, but they will save energy and save you money.
