Five Tips for Stress-Free Mornings

Picture this: Your alarm goes off but you turn it off and go to bed for five more minutes. Or maybe ten more minutes. When you finally decide to get up, you're running late and stressed out because you had so much to do in the morning. Does this sound familiar? We thought so. Here are five tips on how you can avoid stress in the morning.

1. Go to bed early

Easier said than done, right? Set reminders on your phone an hour before to remind you that you need to go to bed soon. Stop scrolling on Facebook while you’re in bed, and put your phone down.

2. Choose your outfit the night before

Check the weather for the next day, and choose your outfit the night before to save a few minutes.

3. Prep your lunch ahead of time

Meal prep at the beginning of the week, so you have meals ready for the whole week. If you don’t have room in your fridge, you can meal prep for half the week, or make easy meals the night before work.

4. Enjoy the simple pleasures

Listen to your favorite music or a good podcast while you’re getting up and ready, or plan on making your favorite breakfast, or a cup of coffee/tea. Looking forward to something that you like will push you to get ready for it.

5. Rise and Shine

Waking up is much easier to do when you wake up to light. There are a few ways to do this. One way is to keep a light by your bed and turn it on when you wake up. Another way is to mindfully place your bed and mirrors in your room to see and reflect a lot of natural light. One other way is to sit up in your bed and play on your phone for a few minutes until you feel awake enough to get up. Instead of going on social media, try typing out three things you’re grateful for.
