Summer is coming to a close and that means the first day of school is right around the corner! We want to make the transition from summer to school the easiest as possible for you and your family. Giving up summer for school is hard on children, but putting “back to school” in a new perspective is just the way to make the perfect transition.
Divide and Conquer
Instead of facing the long list of back to school supplies alone, ask the kids to tag along. Splitting the list not only takes one thing off your plate, but it excites the kids! They are able to pick out their folders and binders that best express themselves, along with picking out their favorite backpack. Now, they are looking forward to school starting to be able to show off their brand new supplies.
Along with new supplies, comes the new wardrobe for the first few days of school. After picking out a few new outfits, come home and start to organize their closet. Go through all the clothes and decipher whether they want to keep it, if it still fits, and etc. Getting rid of old clothes allows you to reorganize and create new look for the closet that will make the new looks the kids will be rocking to school.
Practicing the Routine
Waking up early is not only hard on the kids, but you as well. A week prior to school beginning, start practicing. Starting setting a “bedtime” and begin waking up earlier so when the first day is here, waking up is no issue. Getting back into the schedule
After School Activities
Finding what after school activities are offered in your area is important. It allows your children to get active, and socialize with other kids their age outside of a school environment. This can be sports, a club, or something that will get your child involved and will look forward to going to school every day.
