Tips for Throwing a Summer-tastic BBQ

Summer is finally upon us and we all know it’s the perfect time for great weather, gathering with friends, and delicious food. Bar-B-Qs are the perfect way to enjoy all of this at one time and hosting one can seem a bit overwhelming… but we’re here to help by providing a few helpful tips that will make your BBQ a flawless one!

The Invites

There’s no need to go over the top [for a gathering with some of your favorite people]. Creating a simple Facebook event can help you get an idea of the how many people plan on attending. This will give you an idea of how much food and drinks to prepare ahead of time. Your guests are also able to see who else is going and can make carpooling arrangements ahead of time.

Keep it Classic

Trying new food and recipes can either be a major success or failure, we are here to tell you to stick with the classics and crowd favorites. You can always add your own twist to each dish to make it your own, but having dishes that everyone can enjoy is just as important. Can’t go wrong with classic baby back ribs, grilled chicken, corn on the cob, pasta salad! Oh, and you can’t forget the fruit pizza for dessert either. Ask your friends to help pitch in by bringing extra side dishes, desserts, and drinks, most of them will be happy to help.

Drinks by the Batches

Beer and BBQs go hand in hand, but there’s nothing wrong with putting together a pitcher of sangria that pairs perfectly with summer. Pitchers contain multiple servings of drinks which is perfect for when the beer supply starts to run low! Pitchers of drinks are also very easy to make and can be prepared the evening before which makes one less task for the day of.

The Music of Summer

Creating the perfect playlist is essential for any get together. Gathering a bunch of songs that bring back pleasant memories of summer along with this year’s current fan faves will be a sure hit amongst all of your guests. You can also ask for song suggestions on the Facebook event you created, which will make it easier on you!

Room for Activities

Once everyone has had the chance to catch up with one another, you want to make sure there is still plenty to do! Bust out the corn hole, ladder ball, and cards against humanity. Your guests can pair up and see who really is the team to beat. This will be a chance to create more awesome memories with one another.

No Dishes, No Problem

Keep it simple! Cute paper plates, napkins, and a table cover will do the trick and make cleaning up much less of a hassle. Besides, no one will be hung up over what decorations you have or don’t have because they will be too busy enjoying one another’s company.
